The Blonder Company began in Cleveland in 1928 as a small paint and paper shop and grew into one of the Midwest's wallcovering distributors. We have moved a few times. We have never stopped carrying paper.
- 1928
A storefront opens in Cleveland selling paint, brushes and a modest rack of wallpaper. The wallpaper sells first.
- 1950s
Post-war housing needs walls covered. Blonder becomes a distributor, supplying decorators and department stores across Ohio.
- 1970s
Vinyl arrives. So do the boldest patterns we have ever stocked. A few are still in the archive; a few are back in production.
- 2000s
Wall art and murals join the range. Designers start coming to the showroom with laptops instead of clipboards.
- Today
From 8333 Rockside Rd in Valley View we ship across the region, host trade days and still argue, gently, about which blue is the right blue.
What we believe
Fewer lines, known deeply. A distributor who cannot tell you how a paper behaves on a damp wall is a warehouse.
Samples should be fast. A designer waiting on a cut is a project waiting on us.
Texture is information. Every collection in this building can be touched before it is ordered.
Cleveland is home. The names on our house patterns are streets, rivers and buildings we drive past.
